College students are not known for having a ton of money on hand, so it's always important to find as many ways as you can to save money. Now that I've recently joined the club, I've found a couple tips that will save you money when you're buying your books.

The price of college books has reached ridiculous heights these days especially if you're buying directly from your college. The thing is too, that once you buy the books for your quarter/semester/trimester, chances are, you won't use all those books ever again. Most places that sell college textbooks, usually will buy them back from you as well, so whether you bought your books new or used, this is a great way to get some of your money back (usually it's going to be less than 50% of what you paid for the book but it's better than nothing!), and save some room on your bookshelf.

Another tip is to combine this strategy of buying used with buying your books online. The websites I have listed below have choices of new and used books that you can buy or rent, and you can sell your books back to them for some money back as well.

To give you an example, I needed three books for my courses this fall. The first one was a large history book that my college was selling USED for $107 and change, then my second and third books were for my French class. One was $70 and the other was $21. I rented the history book used through Chegg.com for ninety-nine days for $46,and I bought my French books through Textbooks.com for $21 and $3. So as you can see, the savings were astronomical, and all the books arrived in excellent condition, free of highlights, dog-ears, or tears.

I was really satisfied with the prices, quality and speed of the shipping times associated with buying online. If you're looking to save some money, online is the way to go.

I just ran across your blog and wanted to make sure that you knew that eCampus.com also rents Textbooks. I saved almost $300 last semester by renting from them. And it is easier than the hassle of buying my books and trying to sell them back. All I had to do was drop the books in a box and ship them back for free. You can search through the available rental books at www.ecampus.com And you can use this coupon code EE15009 for 5% off!
